Living Textiles
Senior Work
Samantha deeply values the slow, deliberate process of creating by hand and draws inspiration from observing the life cycles of plants and fungi. Her collection, “Living Textiles,” reflects this philosophy, aiming to give back to the earth. The alarming waste generated by fast fashion has motivated her to advocate for environmentally friendly practices, using plants as symbols of patience and care. Driven by an intrinsic motivation for material manipulation and a profound appreciation for nature, Samantha is dedicated to her work in living textiles, creating art that embodies sustainability and respect for the environment.

Collaboration With Zeynep Salim
Samantha collaborated with Zeynip Salim, a Turkish American that highlights her culture in her work in a modernized way. This piece is made of 100% natural wool, it is knitted, felted, crocheted and embroidered. Growing from this piece is a Pink oyster mushroom, Blue oyster mushroom and lion's mane mushroom as well as alfalfa sprouts. All plants were consumed.

Everlasting
Through 100+ hours of dedication, Samantha hand-manipulated lace on a Silver Reed Knitting machine using 100% cotton lace-weight yarn. This piece is inspired by the intricate structure of trees observed under a canopy. It highlights the light that peeks through the neg-taive spaces of the leaves. Detachable Golden Pothos clippings directly reminds us of natures' natural beauty and delicacy.

Wanderer
This piece embodies the free-spirited explorer.

Tree of Life
This Tapestry guides us through the cycle of life as we observe how the seeds of alfalfa sprouts and Wheat burst from their shell to flourishing to their roots forming its own intertwined. Cocked system that is similar to knit itself.
